5 Faves: Product Edition

I have to start this out by saying that I am not a makeup girl, I’m just a girl who likes to look good. I rarely experiment with makeup products because I just don’t have the patience. It’s really not my thing. I’m more concerned with the skin underneath it all. If you know me you’ve probably heard me say that I am on the eternal quest to perfect glowing skin. I’d even call myself a skincare product junkie, one who will try almost anything to achieve beautiful, even, soft and youthful looking skin. With that said, I still like to keep my face looking fresh so I do have a light go to makeup routine that I rely on, with products I use religiously. Anyway, I wanted to share a few of my favorite products. These are the things I just can’t live without. I love them and you might too!

Here we go…in no particular order:

First up, Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream, because foundation makes me sweat and this doesn’t! As I said before, I’m simple when it comes to makeup so I don’t like anything that makes me feel–or look–like I piled it on my face. This bb is perfect because it gives a sheer tint that helps to even out my skin tone, which makes me look put together without doing too much. The best part, it also fights breakouts and it has an SPF for extra protection from the sun.

Next up, Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red. This is my all time favorite red. It’s actually pretty much my favorite lip color, period. I love love love this lipstick! It’s bold and bright with a great matte finish and this bad boy lasts ALL DAY LONG. This is perfect for me because I almost never remember to reapply lipstick or retouch my makeup. I promise you I have tried to find a red better than this one, but from the drugstore to the department store, nothing stacks up.

Murad Invisiblur I added this to my skincare routine a few months ago after I attended a skincare/beauty event. I listened to my favorite beauty bloggers (This That Beauty and The Style and Beauty Doctor) talk about the importance of protecting your skin with a good sunscreen everyday, something I had only been doing during summer. Naturally, their amazing gift bag included this wonderful product. I was truly thrilled to try it because I’d always read such great things about Murad products but I’d been reluctant to try them since the line is a bit pricey. After using Invisiblur I am a believer! I’m already close to the end of the one I got at the event so I plan to order a replacement soon. My skin tone has been noticeably softer, brighter and more even since I’ve started using it.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation + Concealer Let me preface this by shouting out my dear old dad for putting me on to Clinique products. For as long as I can remember, whenever we’re stumped on what to get my dad for a birthday or Christmas, my mom says “get him Clinique, he loves that stuff.” So I can’t tell you when, but I do know for sure, he’s been using Clinique for Men for more than a decade. Anyway, whenever he buys his products he saves the free gift for my sister and I. This usually means a new colorful makeup bag filled with a bunch of samples. I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize how amazing this was in the beginning but now I’m hooked on so many Clinique products that I end up getting my own free gift when I buy their full size products. So of course my favorite concealer is made by Clinique. This one is extra special because its a 2 in 1. It covers and conceals. Powder foundations tend to dry me out so I use this more as a concealer and setting powder. It’s gentle and lightweight on my extremely sensitive skin.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil If you were wondering how I manage to get all that red stain off my lips, this is it! This oil is great at wiping away all traces of what used to be. It’s specifically for lids, lashes and lips so it works wonders when it comes to color stay lipstick.
